A Silk Press That Moves — One of Our First Main Character Hair Dreams

Three years ago, when we first began developing our silk press system, we entered a season where the dream of a press with true fluidity seemed almost out of reach.

Our goal was simple but delicate: to guide kinkier hair bonds to lay in the direction we desired without sacrificing their natural vitality.

Every texture of hair is capable of remarkable things.

For those with naturally straight hair, there are countless ways to form volume, curls, kinks, and waves through setting techniques. And for those with a kinkier texture, there are thoughtful methods that allow the strands to become sleek and elongated when desired.

The Experiment

During the early development of what we now call the Refined Silk Press Experience, there were moments when we believed additional weight would be the answer for certain textures.

For a few weeks we experimented with heavier, petroleum-based products.

The results were immediate.

Instead of producing the theatrical movement we envisioned, the strands became dramatically weighed down.

The hair responded honestly.
It told us clearly what it would not accept.

The Realization

Through those early experiments we learned something essential.

Movement cannot be forced through weight.

It must be invited through harmonious cohesion.

Proper cleansing, intentional conditioning, and disciplined heat application create the environment where the strands are free to move naturally.

The Result

Now that our Refined Silk Press System has been established, we are grateful to offer our clients silk presses that prioritize movement.

Here in Miami, one of our clients experienced this firsthand after receiving a restorative treatment within our Haircare Experience followed by her silk press.

The result was exactly what we once dreamed of:

Hair that moves.

Silk press hairstyle with fluid movement created at the Main Character Hair studio in Miami Lakes, Florida.

And This Is What We Call

A silk press that lives.
